Velvet reads as depth rather than shine. The pile catches light differently depending on which way you run your hand over it, which is why colour on velvet looks richer than the same colour flat.

We keep it plain, dyeable and embroidered, from ₹550 a metre. It is a winter and wedding fabric — weighty, warm, and best on pieces where you want presence: blouses, jackets, borders.
